Oasis V3: A New Way Forward
Channeling their inner Westley from Princess Bride, the engineers at Syntervision put their heads together and said “As you wish” to customers with an entirely new Oasis V3. Feedback from the lead engineer on the Oasis redesign, said the reasoning behind Oasis V3 was to “… modernize the user experience and provide the first true mobile friendly release for users, while maintaining and following industry standards”. IT is constantly evolving and improving, so it only makes sense that Syntervision would follow suit with the release of Oasis V3.
We want users to be able to utilize our solution in whatever way works best for him/her, that’s why our engineers dedicated so much of their time to making our interface truly customizable. Users can now pick the font, font size, and color scheme of their homepage to fit what works best for their own personal needs. Along with the adjustable size and colors, Oasis is transitioning from static charts and graphs to widgets that display personalized graphs and charts for data reports. Oasis users will be able to create a widget based on what kind of report he/she needs to run. For example, if a user wants to see the CPU for a certain server, he/she would click the “+” symbol on the homepage to add a new widget or dashboard. From there, users can name the widget, decide how they want the information to be displayed whether that be in a line, bar, or pie chart, which instances to include, how often the data needs to refresh, how big to make the chart, and what colors to make the sections of the charts. Once one widget is created, users have the option of making the widget a favorite so they can easily refer back to it no matter where they go in the program. These widgets are easily shared with team members via email and CSV files. When users make multiple widgets, they have the ability to toggle the dashboards to make them larger or smaller on their personalized homepage.
There is not much that is more personal today than a smart phone or tablet. These mobile devices are with us 24/7 and rarely go unmonitored. Syntervision engineers made sure that Oasis V3 would be completely mobile friendly to make keeping tabs on your IT just that much easier. Not only can users access Oasis through mobile devices, but Oasis now has the ability to send notifications and alerts to users via SMS messaging. Getting text messages from an ESM solution may not sound all that awesome at first, but just wait, it gets better. Imagine you’re at your favorite sports team’s playoff game that is in the final minutes. Your phone buzzes and it’s a message from the Oasis Automation tool telling you there has been an incident in your IT environment that is within the virtual operator’s scope. With one simple confirmation message from the admin, Oasis flawlessly executes the incident fix and the admin never had to miss the final seconds of the game. Victory.
Automation is the name of the game among all ESM companies today, but Oasis has something no other solution has. Most automation tools can execute single tier workflows effortlessly and effectively. That’s great if you only have single tier workflows to complete. What about the workflows have more of a “if this, then that or that” kind of approach? That’s where Oasis comes in. The Oasis Automation tool has the ability to complete multi-tiered workflows without administrators having to do a thing. Basically we put the analytic thought process of a group of experienced engineers into code. It’s the ultimate simplifier of your work life.
Speaking of work life, dealing with IT and the CMDB go hand in hand. The problem with the way most CMDBs (configuration management databases) are set up is that you can rarely find all the information you need and if you actually do, the process was about as painless as pulling teeth. Oasis was built from the beginning to be the tool that fixed the issues seen in other solutions. Syntervision engineers created the Oasis CMDB to dynamically discover every instance within the IT environment using agentless based technology. The discovery spans all the way through the application through the physical level. After the instances are discovered, the CMDB is automatically populated at the lowest CI level and displayed to show relationships as well. With our Oasis V3, users will be able to search our CMDB with ease and pull up months or years of data quickly. Syntervision recommends that all CMDBs store data for a minimum of 13 months. Just think of the Big Data possibilities there…
Now that we’ve piqued your interest with only a few of the improvements, we’re telling you to wait. Oasis V3 will be released in June 2015. Schedule your demo today to be an early adopter of our new solution
